Cigar Cutters

Cigar cutters are an essential tool for any cigar lover, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable smoking experience. They come in various styles, from guillotine to punch cutters, and can be made from materials such as stainless steel or plastic. Whether you're a seasoned smoker or new to the world of cigars, finding the right cutter can make all the difference. In this article, we'll explore everything you need to know about cigar cutters and how to choose the best one for your needs.

History of Cigar Cutters

Cigar cutters have become an important accessory for cigar enthusiasts around the world, and their origins can be traced back to the early 19th century.

Before cigar cutters were invented, cigars had to be manually bitten or clipped with a knife. This was not only inconvenient but also resulted in a less than perfect cut of the cigar, which affected its flavour and smoking experience.

In the mid-1800s, two major types of cigar cutters emerged. The first one was made of metal and looked like a pair of scissors. It consisted of two blades that came together to create a straight-cut across the cap of the cigar.

The second type was called the guillotine cutter, which had a more intricate design. It featured a blade attached to a lever and used gravity to slice off the end of the cigar cleanly, in one go.

In 1912 Anton Manger patented what we now know as "the perfect cutter" - it was designed with precision that people would get exactly three holes in different sizes depending on what they wanted from their smoke (a thinner stream allowed for lighter variation).

With technological advancements in manufacturing techniques, new materials such as plastic became popular choices for making cigar cutters by 1940s. They were inexpensive to produce en masse and worked just as well as metal ones but without exorbitant costs associated with tooling them out individually from steel sheets like old-fashioned models needed during early years' production runs.

Over time, additional variations have been introduced including punch cutters that make small round holes instead of straight cuts; V-cutter or wedge designs creating an angled opening on one side designed both look interesting and improve flavour intensity simultaneously!

Today's modern market offers many varieties involved diverse styles so users seeking personalized cutting tastes best suited for individual preferences shouldn't have any trouble finding respective options available among popular products offered by different brands globally offering wide-ranging applications satisfying most avid smokers' requirements!
